Henderson Fan Represents!
We get a ton of comments, likes, shares etc. on our Facebook page, Twitter account and dozens of social media sites, and we appreciate every single one. We had to share this one recently from Facebook however, because it is so true to what we believe at Lone Star Gridiron. It was posted just after Henderson and Kilgore met up last week.
FAN Comment : I know most of my friends aren't that "into" high school football... You have no idea what you're missing. Honestly, before we moved to Henderson I hadn't been to many games since high school. I didn't know what I was missing... To go out and watch these young men put their bodies on the line and play their hearts out is amazing.
Tonight I got to watch a great game between our Henderson Lions and the Kilgore Bulldogs - by far it wasn't the game I was expecting or envisioned. It was a tight game with our Lions leading late in the 4th quarter 13-7. Kilgore scored with just under 2 minutes to play to take the lead 14-13. As a fan I was devastated... The bulldogs had our number in the second half and had seemed to make all the right adjustments at halftime, but there were almost two minutes left - a glimmer of hope because I knew what our Lions were possible of and boy did they come through!!!
It was far from easy, but they made the plays that had to be made and marched down the field and allowed Trea Hall to streak into the end zone with just a few ticks left on the clock to clench the victory. What a game it was and win or lose I would have proud of our young men because before the season started they weren't even expected to make the playoffs or have an early exit if we did. These young men continue to defy the odds and control their destiny.
Next Friday night we face the Carthage bulldogs (yeah I know another bulldog) a game that most will pick against us.. no surprise since their last loss was last year during district play...

Oh I almost failed to mention a loss that our Lions gave them! So we get to play the defending and predicted repeating state champions for a regional title and a place in the final 4 in the state playoffs. Praying safety for each team and for a Lions win!!!
