Updated: December 8, 2017
Ricky Prine was named the South East Texas Coaches Association Referee of the Year on December 7 and will be accepting that award on January 27. Prine began his Texas high school football officiating in the Houston area back in 2002. After ten years working as Line Judge and Head Linesman on some of the top crews in Houston, he started his own crew. Starting with just six games in 2012, demand for his crew has increased to 37 in 2016, including Quarter Final and Semi-Final games.
Earlier in the year, Prine received the GHFCA Distinguished Service Award given out to those that have or are presently playing a major part in Texas High School Football. Previous winners include Bank Williams (NFL Official,) Walt Anderson (Houston Chapter Past President, Official of Super Bowl XXXV and Referee of Super Bowl XLV,) Oliver Luck (Executive with the NCAA in charge of regulatory functions,) and Bob McNair (Houston Texans owner.)
Congratulations to Ricky Prine on his latest award and for his continued efforts on behalf of Texas high school football.
