Friday Night Legends is a football board game that uses actual team statistics, play calling and some luck to determine the outcome - kind of like real life! In this series, we will take some of these great teams we have compiled and give you a write-up of how the two played using Friday Night Legends.

In this game, we pitted 2007 Katy against the 2008 Allen squad. Katy won the 2007 Class 5A Division II Championship against Pflugerville. They went 16-0 under 4th year head coach Gary Joseph. Allen won the 2008 state championship over Fort Bend Hightower, going 15-1 under 5th year head coach Tom Westerberg.
Katy averaged 43.81 points per game and gave up an average of 8.5 points per game. Allen averaged 34.25 points while giving up 16.75. Allen ran the ball 63% of the time while Katy ran 68%.
1st Quarter
The teams traded punts to open the game. Allen could not get any running game going with five carries for -2 yards. Field position belonged to Katy as they started their 2nd possession at the Allen 42. Katy converted on two 3rd and 3 plays to keep the drive alive using the pass in a surprise move. They went on to score on a 7 yard pass to take a 7-0 lead. Allen was able to break a 19 yard run on their next possession but were shut down after that and had to punt. This pinned Katy back at their own 10. Katy went 3 and out and Allen got a 14 yard run to end the 1st quarter with Katy leading 7-0.
2nd Quarter
Allen had it 1st down to the Katy 26 to open the quarter. They Allen broke off a 26 yard touchdown run on the fist play to tie the score at 7 all. With 8 minutes left in the half, Allen forced a Katy fumble and recovered the ball at the Katy 44. Allen finally got a pass to work which put them in field goal range. They scored on a 39 yard field goal to make the score 10-7 Allen.
Katy then had a drive that stalled in Allen territory and punted with 2:00 left until half. Allen was forced to punt and Katy got a big 19 yard punt return to the Allen 49 with 1:00 left. Katy completed 2 passes and made it to the Allen 8 with 10 seconds left. The Tigers kicked a field goal to tie it up at 10 at halftime.
To everyone's surprise Katy threw 17 passes compared to running the ball 14 times in the first half. Allen had 18 running plays and 9 passing. It was a defensive battle through one half with on 243 total offensive yards between the two teams
3rd Quarter
Katy started off the 2nd half with a good drive but tossed an interception at the Allen 11 yard line. Allen failed to take advantage of the turnover and punted after going 3 and out. Katy then got the offense going.
They went on a 15 play 74 yard scoring drive to regain the lead 17-10. Allen responded on their next possession with a big run to drive into Katy territory but faced a long 3rd down as the 4th quarter started.
4th Quarter
Unsuccessful in converting the first down, Allen punted. Katy went on another long drive and once again threw an interception deep in Allen territory. Allen got into Katy territory once again but had to punt with 7:00 left. After a stalled Katy drive, Allen returned the punt 64 yards for a touchdown to tie the score at 17 with 5 minutes left.
Before the crowd even quieted down from the last dramatic play, Katy returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown to retake the lead 24-17. After the dust settled, Allen had the ball at their 27 with 5 minutes left in the game. The Eagles drove to the Katy 45 but facing a 4th and short and down by 7, turned the ball over on downs. Katy got the ball with 2:20 left in the game and the lead. Rather than salting away the time with their running game, Katy tried to catch Allen off-guard with yet another pass. This mistake was costly as Allen returned the INT 50 yards for a touchdown!! The extra point squeaked through and the score was once again tied at 24 with 2:00 left. The teams traded 3 and outs to end regulation.
Overtime
Katy settled a 38 yard field goal to take a 27-24 on their first possession of overtime. Allen took over on their first possession and faced a 3rd and 11 at the Katy 19. Their pass fell incomplete BUT Katy is flagged for defensive holding giving Allen a 1st down. Two plays later, Allen bust a run 14 yards for the score and the 31-27 win
Katy finished with 8 Big Plays (2 on offense and 6 on defense), 35 carries for 151 yards, 20 of 33 passing for 160 yards 4 turnovers and 7 penalties.
Allen finished with 8 Big Plays (4 on offense and 4 on defense), 36 carries for 113 yards, 11 of 21 passing for 95 yards 0 turnovers and 3 penalties.
