Fairfield Wins 3rd Consecutive Blowout
Three weeks ago in Mexia, the resurgent Fairfield Eagles football team started their district "turn around", with a 29-6 second half, in a 39-16 declawing of the Black Cats! Last Friday night in Robinson, they continued the pattern, started two weeks ago vs Waco Connally, of putting their foes away quickly & convincingly early in the contest. They soared out to a commanding 24-0 first quarter lead, then stretched in to 32-0, before finishing the first half ahead 32-6. At that point, most of their sizzle had fizzled before the Rockets could even get off the launching pad!
Once the Eagles quit trying to pound the swift, but smaller Kam Ransom through the middle, and put him out at WR, where his speed & elusiveness were more valuable, and tuned the "double-headed monster" of RB's JaShaughn Hatcher and JarMychael Hudson loose, their offensive production has soared, and their playoff potential has greatly increased! This week in Robinson, like last week at home vs Connally, the 200lb RB's combined for well over 200 yards rushing & the sharp passing of QB Chad Rushin reached almost 200 yards, in amassing 507 yards of total offense. Those prodigious numbers have allowed Fairfield to dispose of both teams, Connally and Robinson, who are currently tied with them for 2nd place in the district race, all with (3-2) records, in back-to-back games! Lorena tops the field with a (4-1) district record, (8-1) season record.
HATCHER & HUDSON COMBINE FOR 1ST THREE TOUCHDOWNS...
After a Blake Posey interception, returned to the Rocket's 33 yard line, Hatcher took the pigskin the final 29 yards, breaking several tackles in route to the games 1st touchdown! Hudson plowed behind the same great blocking Hatcher enjoyed, for the 2pt conversion... 8-0 Eagles.
Less than three minutes later, Hatcher scored again, this time on a one yard dive, thanks to a Rushin to Ransom 50 yard pass play to the one! KD Walker, last season's leading rusher at over 1,100 yards, sped wide for the 2pts... 16-0. A little over two minutes later, after a complete pass from Rushin to Ransom, and a couple of bull-like Hatcher runs, Hudson blasted the final 28 yards for the 3rd TD of the opening quarter. The elusive and quick Ransom then scored the 2pt conversion...24-0.
Midway through the 2nd period, another 50 yard passing combo between Rushin and Ransom set Fairfield up at the Rocket 13 yard line, where Rushin found Posey open over the middle, and connected with him for the 4th TD of the half. As seemed appropriate, Rushin hit a streaking Ransom in the far corner of the endzone for the successful 2pt conversion... 32-0 Eagles!
After the almost 200 member, Grand Band From Eagle Land easily won the halftime show with their precision marching & rousing, gridiron-inspiring renditions, Fairfield's warriors won the 2nd half battle, 14-7... for the final 46-13 margin. With 3:53 left in the 3rd period, after runs by Hatcher, Hudson and Rushin, the able Eagle field general hit #11, Ty Bachtel with one of his 13 completed passes, and then Rushin sneaked in from the one for the 1st of the 2nd half TD's. About 2 1/2 minutes later, after back-to-back pass completions to #7, Cody Ferguson, Hatcher finished Fairfield's scoring for the game, with his his 3rd touchdown run, this one a 32 yard rumble! Ransom darted up the middle, behind that awesome line for the PAT...final, 46-13 Fairfield.
KD Walker once again led the stingy Eagle defensive crew with 14 tackles, 4 for losses & 3 sacks! Posey, Zane Anderson, Hudson, Parker Eidson and Johnny Perez led a whole host of victorious defenders with a total of 45 tackles between themselves...6 for losses & 4 total sacks!! Great effort guys.
