Mike Says: Pleasant Grove is looking to repeat as they won their first championship on their first try last year. Cuero will be playing in their 11th all-time state championship. That will put them in a tie for 2nd place all-time. They are only 3-7 in title games. They last played in a championship game in 2004 and last won a title in 1987. We may have Pleasant Grove ranked higher on our site but personally I had Cuero #1 and Pleasant Grove #3. I know... not a big difference. Cuero wins their 4th Championship with a 28-26 victory.
Chris Says: Another great matchup. We have the defending state champion Texarkana Pleasant Grove Hawks going up against the Cuero Gobblers. There is a ton of tradition on the side of Cuero, but recent success for Pleasant Grove. Cuero has the marquee player in Jordan Whittington but is he going to be enough? I think the recent experience winning a state title translates to enough of an edge. Texarkana Pleasant Grove eeks out a close one.
