Five plays later, the Raiders were forced to attempt a 24 yard field goal after the Timberwolves "Black Rain" defense tightened. Clay Roblyer's kick was good and Denton Ryan led, 3-0. Cedar Park went to work in as they have all season - in the air. What started good quickly fell apart and the Wolves were forced to punt.
Denton Ryan proceeded to put together a series of tough runs that took advantage of the Raiders size. Mixing in a few passes, Kaleb Hicks broke things open with a series of juke cuts that netted 20 yards to the 13. His brother, Ke'0ri Hicks scored the first touchdown from 13 yards out. 10-0 Denton Ryan. Down by two scores, Cedar Park ended the first quarter with the ball.
2Q
After moving the ball into no man's land, Cedar Park went for it on 4 and 10. The incomplete pass turned the ball over the Ryan. For the first time in the game, the Raiders went 3 and out and punted. The Timberwolves fought hard with their passing game to get a first down and a penalty saw them to the Ryan 11. Ryder Hernandez hit Jack Hestera on his 50th catch of the season who was wide open in the end zone for the first Timberwolves score. Josh Cameron went up high in the middle of the end zone for the pass to get the two point conversion. 10-8 Denton Ryan
Cedar Park then attempted the onside kick but did not get it. The Raiders responded after a couple short gains when Henigan hit Keagan Cunningham on a little crossing route that he stretched into a 52 yard score. It appeared that Cunningham may have stepped out of bounds but the review showed he was in and the score counted. 17-8 Denton Ryan
Cedar Park appeared to be driving until Hernandez threw only his third interception of the season when Ty Marsh came down with a pass intended for Cameron. The pick off saw Ryan with the ball on their 34. A combination of plays by Sanders and Billy Bowman Jr. put the ball in Timberwolves territory. A 37 yard pass to Bowman Jr. was all it took for Ryan to score again. 24-8 Denton Ryan
Down by 16, Cedar Park opened their drive with a 16 yard run by Cameron. Two plays later, Garyeon Robinson grabbed a tipped pass intended for Abseck left Hernandez with his second interception of the game - matching his total for the entire year prior to the title game. The 46 yard return set up Ryan 1st and 10 at the 19. A quick pass to Michael Davis made it first and goal at the 2. Sophomore Anthony Hill Jr. took the dive up the middle for the touchdown. 31-8 Denton Ryan
The Timberwolves put together a drive that include a lot of crossing routes to Abseck and passes to Cameron. Cameron caught one down the right sideline and appeared to be walking into the end zone but Ty Marsh stripped the ball into the air and back down into his own hands. The turnover saw the Raiders take over at their own 6 with under 2 minutes to go in the half. A couple first downs ended the first half.
3Q
The Timberwolves began the second half with ball and down by 23. Cedar Park appeared to be moving along until Hernandez was blitzed, chased back and forth across the field by Hill Jr. Hill Jr. slapped the ball out of Hernandez's grasp at the 10, it squirted to the 2 where Marquis Hill II picked it up and stepped in for the Denton Ryan score. 38-8 Denton Ryan
A quick 3 and out ended the next Timberwolf drive and Ryan looked to extend their lead. The Black Rain D backed up Ryan to 3rd and 23 but Ke'0ri Hicks scampered 45 yards for the first. A short pass to Michael Davis stretched into a 29 yard score for Ryan. 45-8 Denton Ryan
The Timberwolves went back to work with a solid passing game and then Hernandez hit Histera wide open inside the 10. He then hit Cade Haught on a wheel right to the right for the score. The PAT was blocked by Marsh. 45-14 Denton Ryan
With half the third quarter remaining Denton Ryan took over once again but failed to get a first down and punted for only the second time in the game. Cedar Park started on their 28 and set about mixing up their offense. After crossing midfield, they were forced to try a 4th and 10 but the incomplete pass ended the drive. Ryan proceeded to run out the remainder of the third quarter.
4Q
Ryan finished their drive with a toss to Cunningham to the 5. Sanders pulled down the fade route in the end zone to extend the Raiders' lead. 52-14 Denton Ryan
Starting at their own 25, Cedar Park continued to struggle as the Ryan rush kept Hernandez scrambling and forced a quick three and out. Ryan went to the running game intent on burning clock. Kaleb Hicks busted a nice run for 27 yards to the 8 yard line. He took it again to the 1 on the next play but a fumble recovered the Ryan moved it back to the 3. A false start backed it up to the 8 again and two plays later Ke'0ri Hicks crossed the goal line for another score. 59-14 Denton Ryan
Cedar Park had 5:41 left before their championship loss was official but didn't give up. Another tipped pass left them punting again. The Raiders with their backups in the game were unable to advance and punted to give the Timberwolves another shot. Cedar Park held serve until the clocked ticked to 0:00. The Denton Ryan Raiders won the title 59-15.
