NCAA Announces Major Recruiting Rules Change

The NCAA approved a major change to the rules for official visits to schools by high school athletes.
The change applies to all sports and eliminates the limit of five official visits for student-athletes visiting universities. Official visits are paid for by the university and are a commonly used recruiting tactic. However, some families in lower-socioeconomic households may have been disadvantaged by the previous limit of five official visits, which could force students to use unofficial visits to closer universities. While most student-athletes are not asked to take more than five official visits, this change allows those who receive interest from multiple schools to visit them all.
Currently, student-athletes are not allowed to take an official visit to the same school multiple times, except in the case of a coaching change or for men's basketball athletes, who are allowed two official visits in different academic years. There is some speculation that the change could allow the "rich to get richer" in terms of wealthy universities being allowed to spend more money on official visits.
