Palestine’s Lance Angel Announces Retirement

Palestine High School announced Coach Lance Angel's retirement on Tuesday, concluding a coaching career spanning 31 years with 17 of those as a head coach.
His record as a head coach is 103-86
- Cooper (2002-2005) 29-18
- Canton (2006-2009) 25-19
- Palestine (2010-2013, 2019-2023) 37-49
According to a statement on the Palestine Independent School District's Facebook page, Coach Angel served as the Wildcats' head coach from 2010 to 2014 and returned in 2019. He led the team to 10 district titles for Palestine. Coach Angel will continue his coaching responsibilities until a replacement is found.
Coach Angel's coaching career extends to various schools, including Bryan ISD, Canton ISD, Cooper ISD, Aledo ISD, Elgin ISD, and Wink ISD. The district highlighted his impact on both the school and the local community.
Coach Angel will play a role in coordinating the search for his successor. The application process for the new head coach will be open until February 2.
