The 1949-50 Minneapolis Lakers coached by John Kundla, won their first NBA championship in franchise history.

The team was led by George Mikan, who was the league's leading scorer and a dominant force in the paint. Jim Pollard, Slater Martin, and Vern Mikkelsen were also key contributors, each averaging over 10 points per game. The Lakers finished the regular season with a record of 51-17, which was the best in the NBA's Western Division.

In the playoffs, the Lakers defeated the Chicago Stags in the division finals, and then defeated the Syracuse Nationals in the NBA Finals, winning the series 4 games to 2.

The 1949-50 Minneapolis Lakers are considered one of the greatest teams in NBA history, and their championship victory marked the beginning of a dynasty that would go on to win four more championships over the next five years.

The roster also included a Forward named Harry Peter "Bud" Grant who would go on to coach the Minnesota Vikings NFL team for 18 years and lead them to four Super Bowl appearances and one Championship. He also coached the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL, winning four Grey Cup championships.
