The Miners won the national championship in 1966, becoming the first team with an all-black starting lineup to do so. They defeated Kentucky 72-65 - a historically all-white school. They won their games by an average of 15.2 points.. They were led by Hall of Fame coach, Don Haskins and were the subject of the film Glory Road.
