The 1968 Crimson entered the final game of the Ivy League season with a perfect 8-0 record and faced off against Yale who was also sitting at 8-0. Harvard scored 16 points in the final 42 second to tie the game 29-29 and both teams ended the season at 8-0-1. The Harvard Crimson student newspaper printed the famous headline "Harvard Beats Yale, 29–29" the next morning. It was the last tie between the two as the rules changed to eliminate ties shortly after.
The Crimson offensive line was anchored by future actor Tommy Lee Jones.
