The Bobcats won their second consecutive NCAA Division II Football Championship with a win over UC Davis, 34–9, in the Palm Bowl. The team was led by Head Coach Jim Wacker who had previously won back to back titles in the NAIA with Texas Lutheran College (74 & 75)
