The Wolverines finished third in the Big 10 and received and at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament as a #3 seed. They knocked off Xavier, South Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia to advance to the Final Four. They knocked off fellow Big 10 team, Illinois to advance to play Seton Hall in the Championship Game. Michigan took the win in overtime 80-79 to when their first (an only) National Championship.
