Abilene Cooper Hires Defensive Coordinator To Replace Spradlin

2011 Coaching Change: Abilene Cooper Cougars

Old Head Coach: Mike Spradlin -- Leaving to take over at 5A Temple.  He was the head coach at Cooper for 5 years going 37-23-0. His teams made it to the Regionals each of the last 3 seasons. Spradlin has an overall record of 65-45-0. His other head coaching jobs have been at Midland Christian (15-7 from 1996-97), Navasota (6-5 in 1998) and Round Rock Westwood (22-19 from 1999-2002). He was also the offensive line coach at the University of Houston. At Abilene Cooper, Spradlin continually improved with records of 4-6, 5-6, 8-5, 9-4 and 11-2.

New Head Coach: Toby Moebes -- Was the Cougars defensive coordinator for the past five years.  He began his coaching career as an assistant at Katy in 2002 where he graduated.  He stayed there for five seasons before coming to Cooper.  This is Moebes first head coaching job.  He will be Coopers 11th head football coach in the schools 50 year history.

Team News: The Cougars are on a 3 year winning streak. There main rival is Abilene and they have an all-time record of 31-18-1 against them.
