San Angelo Lake View Gets Kuhlmann Back

2011 Coaching Change: San Angelo Lake View Chiefs

Old Head Coach: Sterlin Gilbert -- Leaving to be the Offensvie Coordinator at 5A Temple. He led the Chiefs for the past 3 years to an overall 9-23-0 record. This was Gilberts first Head coaching job. Before this he was the Offensvie Coordinator at 5A Abilene Cooper. He rejoins former Cooper head coach Mike Spradlin at Temple. The Chiefs 2008 playoff victory over Dumas was their first since 1996. In that 1996 season, Gilbert was the starting quarterback for the Chiefs.

New Head Coach: Doug Kuhlmann -- From 2A Vanderbilt Industrial where he led the Cobras to an overall 48-24-0 record over 6 years. Kuhlmann played quarterback for Angelo State from 1978-1981 and got his first coaching job in 1983 at Lake View when current San Angelo executive director of athletics, Jim Slaughter hired him as an assistant. Coach Kuhlmann was also a head
coach at San Angelo Grape Creek and 2A Eldorado from 1989-1995 where he had a 39-32-1 record. His overall head coaching record is 89-74-1.

Team News: The Chiefs have had 6 consecutive non-winning seasons. They have only had 20 winning seasons in their 79 year history.
