2012 Coaching Change: Lamesa Golden Tornadoes
Old Head Coach: Kent Torbert -- Resigning to be the principal at Lamesa. He led the Golden Tornadoes for 6 years going 11-49-0.
New Head Coach: David Ritchey -- From 2A Clyde where he led the Bulldogs to an overall 15-16-0 record over 3 seasons. The Golden Tornadoes have not been to the playoffs since 2001. Coach Ritchey led Clyde to only its 16 playoff appearance in over 70 years. Before that in 2008, he led Rotan to their 1st playoff appearanc since 2001.
Team News: The Golden Tornadoes are on a 10 year losing streak. They will move down to 2A to District 2-2A Division I with the last UIL re-alignment. The other schools in the district will be Brownfield, Denver City, Idalou, Kermit and Slaton.
