Overton Replaces “Bo” Talkington For The Third Time

2012 Coaching Change: Overton Mustangs

Old Head Coach: Arthur “Bo” Talkington -- Resigns after leading the Mustangs to a 6-14 record over the last 2 seasons. This was his 3rd time as head coach of the Mustangs. He led them from 1981-1985 going 38-17 and then again from 1987-1988 going 18-3. His other coaching jobs have been at Emory Rains 1989-1993 (24-26), Fredericksburg 1994-1995 (12-8-1) Alba-Golden 1998 (0-10) and Detroit 2006 (3-7). His all-time coaching record stands at 101-85-1.

New Head Coach: Josh Barton -- He was an assistant at New Caney last year. He also was an assistant for the Mustangs from 2008-2010.

Team News: The Mustangs are on a 5 year losing streak going 15-35. They will move down to Class 1A Division II after playing in Class 1A Division I last year. They will be in District 10 with the last UIL re-alignment. The other schools in the district will be Cumby, Detroit, Gilmer Union Hill and Maud.
