2012 Coaching Change: Boyd Yellow Jackets
Old Head Coach: J.G. Cartwright -- Retiring after coaching the Yellow Jackets for the past 35 years. He ends his career with 274 wins 122 losses and 6 ties. He led the Yellow Jackets to the state championship game 3 times during his stay. His teams won the 1983 Class 2A Championship (Boyd 16, Groveton 8) and the 2004 Class 2A Division I Championship (Boyd 17, Newton 14). They were the runner ups in the 1999 Class 2A Division I Championship (Mart 40, Boyd 7). He ranks #16 on the all-time coaching wins list with his 274 all-time wins.
New Head Coach: Brandon Hopkins -- Was the Yellow Jackets offensive coordinator.
Team News: The Yellow Jackets have gone 24-21 over the past 4 seasons. They will be staying in District 5-2A Division I with the last UIL re-alignment. The other schools in the district will be Bowie, Callisburg, Paradise, Pilot Point, Ponder and Whitesboro.
