2013 Coaching Change: Weatherford Kangaroos

Old Head Coach: Reid Waller -- Resigned after leading the Kangaroos to a 7-23 record over the last 3 years. Before that he was the Defensive Coordinator for the Kangaroos for three seasons. His only other head coaching position was at Henderson from 2002-2005 going 19-24. He began his coaching career at Henderson in 1981. He then went to Plano for 14 years before taking over at Henderson.

New Head Coach: Weldon Nelms -- From 3A Wimberley where he led the Texans for a total of 14 seasons during two different stays to an overall record of 143-48-1. He is the all-time winningest coach at Wimberley. His 2005 and 2011 teams won Class 3A State Championships. He has also been a head coach at Rotan 1987-90, Iowa Park 1994-1999 (38-31-0) and Glen Rose 2000-2001 (11-11). He has an all-time coaching record of 230-117-3 which ranks him in the Top 40 in all-time coaching wins. Coach Nelms was named a 2012 UIL Sponsor Excellence Award recipient – 1 of only 16 recognized annually.

Team News: The Kangaroos have not had a winning season since 2005 going 21-51 during that time. They have had only 1 winning season in last 13 years (7-4 in 2005).
