- Mike Says: The Tigers were a dominating team last year winning the Division II Championship. Along the way their average margin of victory was 39 points...40+ in the playoffs. Once again this year they will be the heavy favorite in Region III even though they graduated 59 lettermen and only have 6 starters coming back. The tradition is alive and well in Katy land. That along with a strong running game and great defense could spell another championship run. RB Rodney Anderson will be the feature back this year so expect big things from him. If there is a weakness it may in the secondary where they were hit hard by graduation. Look for another undefeated regular seasons with great games against Alief Taylor and The Woodlands early on. Once in the playoffs, everyone would love to see another match-up between them and Cibolo Steele in the Semifinals.
- Chris Says: It looks like a rebuilding year for Katy... I know, I know - Katy doesn't rebuild, they reload. Whatever you call it, with only 4 starters returning on each side of the ball, they will struggle early. By "struggle" I mean they won't win by 40. There is nobody better at getting athletes into "the system" and believing in themselves than Gary Joseph. For that reason, I feel the Tigers will be fine once they get rolling. At most, they will drop 1 regular season game and once the Tigers reach the postseason, it's on like Donkey Kong! Once in the playoffs, Katy will drop a game in the 3rd or 4th round to some overlooked upstart. This will give them the education and motivation to win it all again in 2014.
