2014 Texas High School Football Bi-District Playoff Highlights

Central Texas:
Cedar Park rushed for 406 yards and twin brothers Chris and Thomas Hutchings combined for four touchdowns rolled over Mission Sharyland 52-24. Burnet got a late stop and the Bulldogs turned back Waco Robinson 38-35. Travis Brannon rushed for 294 yards and three touchdowns to lead Vandegrift to a 45-27 win over previously unbeaten Corpus Christi Flour Bluff. 2A’s top ranked Refugio turned four first half turnovers into touchdowns and beat Thorndale 56-19. La Grange overcame a 14-0 deficit and sophomore J.K. Dobbins rushed for 209 yards and four touchdowns. Mi’kel Jackson rushed for 143 yards and two scores and Converse Judson beat Laredo United 55-20. Cibolo Steele got a combined 296 yards and seven touchdowns from L.G. Williams and Bryson Denley and beat Weslaco East 48-17. San Antonio Brandeis beat Brownsville Rivera 42-14 as UTSA commit Peyton Hall had 8 catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Cade Dyal threw for 282 yards and five touchdowns to lead Kerrville-Tivy to a 54-30 win over Gregory-Portland. Temple’s needed a last second field goal from Cole Martin to knock off Fort Bend Ridge Point 38-35 as Baylor commit Chad President threw for 341 yards and five touchdowns. Austin LBJ scored a two point conversion with just 1:10 to play to knock off Victoria West 36-35. Avery Jackson rushed for 164 and threw for 134 for the Jaguars, while West QB Gamarquis Girdy finished his season with 118 yards rushing, giving him 2266 yards for the season. Liberty Hill scored twice in the final 38 seconds, the first on a pass and the second on a fumble return, to stun Rockport-Fulton 31-21. Tyler Handson racked up 385 yards and scored five touchdowns to lead Sinton to a 56-41 win over Wimberley. San Antonio Reagan beat Los Fresnos 50-19 as Marquis Duncan rushed for 70 yards and two TDs.
Dallas/Fort Worth:
Defending champion Allen scored 50 points in the second half, but needed a late stop to win its 40th consecutive game 69-54 over Arlington Martin. The Eagle defense stopped Martin’s Nic Smith on fourth down with just 44 seconds remaining and Tyler Murray raced 61 yards on the next play for the clincher. For the game, Murray also had touchdown runs of 74 and 49 yards. Euless Trinity churned up 458 yards on the ground, including 241 from QB Tyler Nateeto take down Odessa Permian 42-14. Devin Smith rushed for 110 yards and threw for 219, hitting Donta Thompson with an eight yard TD pass with 6:17 remaining and racing 60 yards to paydirt with 1:45 to go as Ennis beat The Colony 49-35. Argyle fended off three end zone shots in the final 19 seconds to turn back Kennedale 52-44. Nick Ralston ( AZ State commit rushed for 322 yards and four scores for the Eagles, while Juwann Washington (San Diego State commit) ended his high school career with 319 yards rushing and three TDs. North Carolina commit Nathan Elliott threw four first half touchdowns and Celina cruised to a 56-27 win over Iowa Park. Aledo beat El Paso Del Valle 37-21 as Luke Bishop threw for 130 and rushed for 100. Dallas South Oak Cliff scored 40 points in the second quarter enroute to a 78-29 win over Frisco Heritage. Cedar Hill survived a furious Abilene comeback to beat the Eagles 36-28. Xavier Castille caught 14 passes for 128 yards, rushed for 88 and scored the potential game-winning touchdown, but it wasn’t enough as Rockwall fell to Spring Westfield 43-38. Westfield countered with a 72 yard touchdowns pass from Dillon-Sterling Cole to Tyrie Cleveland with 2:38 to play. Southlake Carroll methodically ground down San Angelo Central 35-10. Mansfield Lake Ridge put the clamps on McKinney North’s Ronald Jones (OK State commit), but North QB Nick Hutchins totaled 407 yards and North beat Lake Ridge 56-42. Everman’s Kierre Crossley rushed 32 times for 390 yards and three scores in a 31-20 win over El Paso Eastlake.
Houston:
Navasota Junior WR Tren’Davian Dickson (Baylor commit) set a single season touchdown reception record with four catches for 200 yards. Dickson now has 34 td catches and counting as top-ranked Navasota beat El Campo 54-36. Katy crushed Pearland Dawson 63-20 as Rodney Anderson (Oklahoma commit) rushed for 265 yards and six touchdowns, five in the first half. The Tigers have averaged 54.9 points/game since their early season loss to The Woodlands. Manvel gave up 488 yards of offense to Cy Woods, but advanced to play Katy next week, beating Cy Woods 63-47. Cy Ranch sophomore Amaud Willis-Dalton recovered two fumbles, returned one for a touchdown and forced a game clinching fumbler with 9 seconds remaining in a 31-27 upset of Galena Park North Shore. Spring upset Waco Midway 46-45 on a Javian Hall 22 yard td reception from Alex Wood with just :57 remaining. Xavier Jones rushed for 314 yards for the winners, while Houston commit Ben Hicks threw for 305 yards for Midway. West Orange-Stark shut out La Marque 34-0 as Jack Dallas threw four touchdown passes. Klein Oak forced four turnovers, converting three into touchdowns, and rushed for 498 yards to beat Mesquite Horn 59-40. Crosby won its 12th game for the first time in history, beating Brenham 38-20 as sophomore Carlos Grace rushed for 178 yards and two scores. Robert Walker’s two point run on a botched extra point was the difference in Dickinson’s 21-19 win over Cy Fair.
East Texas:
Tyler John Tyler beat Rockwall Heath 49-21 as Geo McCollister threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns. In probably the state’s most thrilling game, Gilmer turned back old rival Gladewater 41-35 before an overflow crowd of 9000 at Lobo Stadium in Longview. The Buckeyes rallied from two scores down in the last five minutes, stopping Gladewater’s Daylon Mack (TX A&M commit) at the Gilmer 18 with just 1:09 to play, then driving the length of the field, where Kris Boyd ran for a 23 yard touchdown with just 9 seconds remaining, Boyd’s fifth td tally of the night. Alto shutout Union Grove 47-0 as Junior QB Keenan Johnson surpassed the 1000 yard rushing mark and 2000 yard passing mark for the season. Tulley Pickens rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on only four carries as Centerville shutout Price Carlisle 41-0. Mineola completed only two passes all night, but the last one went 60 yards from Jeremiah Crawford to Brent Wells with 1:21 remaining for a 34-27 win over Pilot Point. Waskom rushed for 564 yards on 54 attempts and buried Howe 71-21. Henderson outscored Jasper 60-43 as QB Zac Boles rushed for three touchdowns and threw for four.
West Texas:
Stephenville won big over Big Spring 59-32. Jarrett Stidham (TX Tech commit) threw for 277 yards and four scores and rushed for 175 and three tds, while Sophomore RB Keagan Williams rushed for 131 yards and caught five passes for 130. Landen Lewis rushed for three touchdowns to lead Cisco past Spearman 41-32. Leddy French rushed for 142 yards and two scores as Brock upset Wall 21-20. Shallowater remained unbeaten, beating Breckenridge 17-6 on a punt return and blocked field goal return. Canadian shutout Stratford 34-0 as Tanner Schafer threw for 239 yards and three scores. Crosbyton’s Bobby Childers had four interceptions in a 42-14 win over Quanah. Seagraves' Cory Kyle rushed for 300 yards and six tds, threw for 69 yards and one td, and returned a punt for a touchdowns in a 56-21 win over Farwell. Canyon Randall beat Wichita Falls Rider 35-28 as Wyatt Garton rushed for 232 yards and five touchdowns. Canutillo held Azle to just 28 yards rushing in a 17-10 win.
