Austin Lake Travis QB Garrett Gilbert Moving Up The Career Charts

Austin Lake Travis quarterback Garrett Gilbert is moving up the charts in the state career passing records.

Gilbert is currently tied with Drew Tate for 4th overall and only 3 TD passes behind 3rd place Colt McCoy in career touchdown passes with 113.  He is also 49 completions behind Graham Harrell in career completions for 2nd place.

This season, Gilbert is averaging 18-for-27 for 300 yards and 3.5 touchdowns a game.

The future University of Texas Longhorn is also currently 1,798 yards behind Drew Tate for second place on the career passing yards list. If he continues at his current 2008 pace it would take Gilbert six games to pass Tate which would place Lake Travis, the defending Class 4A, Division II champs, playing in the state semifinals for Class 4A, Division I.

Lake Travis plays at Marble Falls on Friday and then will likely play LBJ at Lake Travis the following week to open the playoffs.
