Coach G.A. Moore Returns

Texas High School Football's coach with the most wins in history will be walking the sidelines once again. Coach G.A. Moore will come out of retirement to take over the head coaching position at class 2A Aubrey.
The Aubrey school board approved a two-year, $100,000 contract with Moore to coach the Chaparrals. Aubrey finished last season at 5-5 which included a season ending 41-16 loss to Pilot Point. Coach Moore was the Head Coach at Pilot Point 1977-1985 and 2002-2004. He retired after the 2004 season.
Moore who is now 70 years old, coached 39 of his 42 seasons at Celina and Pilot Point. His Celina teams won state championships in 1974, 1995 and then four consecutive state titles in 1998-2001 His teams at Pilot Point won state titles in 1980 and 1981. In all, he had 412 career victories and eight state titles before he retired.
Coach Moore takes over the job vacated by Daryl Hellman , who coached the Chaparrals for eight seasons to a 37-38 record before stepping down to concentrate at being the school districts athletic director.
Moore has grandchildren at Aubrey, and his son is a coach there.
