Seymour Gets Smart

The class 1A Seymour Panthers have lured Rocky Smart away from 1A Nazareth to be their new Head Coach. Smart replaces Josh Castlers, who moved on to class 2A Bowie after spending one season with the Panthers.

Smart had a 21-5 record in his two seasons with the Swifts. He led Nazareth to the state quarterfinals in his first year. Nazareth went 12-2 in 2007 and 9-3 last year.

Coach Smart will be Seymour’s fourth coach in as many years. David Fambrough who left for 3A Breckenridge and Castlers going to Bowie both moved on to bigger schools.

The Panthers will be trying for their third straight playoff appearance next season which is a feat that has not happened in school history.
