Kirk Herbstreit Challenge Set For Cowboys New Stadium

Four games will be played at the new Cowboys Stadium on Labor Day. The games played that Monday are part of the annual Kirk Herbstreit Challenge.

Euless Trinity will kick things off when they take on Bingham High School from South Jordan, Utah which is scheduled to begin at noon on ESPN. Trinity won the 2007 state title and had its 27-game winning streak snapped in a loss to Allen last season in the Class 5A Division I Region I final to finish 13-1. Bingham lost in Utahs 5A state title game last year to finish 11-3 and is led by all-state running back Harvey Langi. The sophomore ranked third in Utah last season with 1,371 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. Both schools have traditions in doing a Haka dance because both communities have many Polynesian connections.

Klein Oak will face Notre Dame Prep from Sherman Oaks, California at 2:30 p.m. Notre Dame Prep features one of Californias top quarterbacks in junior Ryan Kasdorf. Kasdorf (6-2, 205) was named the states Gatorade Player of the Year after passing for 3,291 yards and 36 touchdowns. He completed 69 percent of his attempts and led his team to an 11-1 record. Klein Oak finished 10-2 last year.

Colleyville Heritage will play Irving MacArthur at 5 p.m. Heritage was 9-2 last season and lost in the first round of the 5A playoffs to Southlake Carroll. MacArthur missed the 5A playoffs at 3-7.

The final game will be Mansfield Timberview against Mansfield Summit at 7:30 p.m. Timberview finished 6-6 in 2008 and lost in the second round of the 4A playoffs to Denton Ryan. Summit missed the 5A playoffs at 3-7.

Note: Times are tentative; Trinity-Bingham game is slated for ESPN and other three games are tentatively scheduled to be televised on ESPNU
