Langham Creek Dominates At Cy Falls SQT

The Langham Creek Lobos dominated throughout to win the Cypress Falls 7 on 7 state qualifying tournament. Langham outscored their opponents in pool play 131-90 before defeating district rival Cypress Creek 55-20 in the semifinals. The win in the semifinals earned them a spot at the state championships to be held in College Station early July. In the championship game, the Lobos defeated another district rival Cy Fair 40-6 (42-7 by another scorekeeper) to win the championship. Cy Fair was the other team to earn a spot in the state championships. They defeated host Cypress Falls 35-28 in the other semifinal game.

In pool play, Cypress Falls won both of their games to win the pool. Cypress Ranch was a no show so there were only 3 teams in the pool. Cypress Falls defeated Waller 55-18 in the first game and after Jersey Village beat Waller 25-18 in the 2nd game, the winner of the Cy Falls/Jersey Village game would decide who advanced. Jersey Village scored a TD with a little less than 2 minutes remaining to make the score 34-32 with Cy Falls leading. The 2 point conversion failed and Cy Falls won to adance.

There was a replacment team in Pool B. Cypress Lakes took Klein Collins spot. The key game of this pool was the first one between Cy Fair and Tomball. The Bobcats won 40-38. After that Cy Fair went on to defeat Cy Springs 33-20 and Cy Lakes 44-19 to go undefeated in pool play. Tomball won their other two games to finish a close second.

Pool C had some very talented teams playing. Langham Creek beat Alief Taylor 49-32, Spring 41-33 and Cy Woods 41-25 to advance. Spring came in second with wins over Cy Woods 42-25 and Taylor 36-21.

The big surprise in pool D was Baytown Lee. They managed to only score 28 points in their 3 games. Cypress Creek won the pool with wins over Houston Stratford 39-37, Baytown Lee 51-14 and Klein Forest 27-26. Houston Stratford joined Tomball in pool B as a team to not make the semifinals by 2 points with their 2 point loss to Cy Creek. Stratford defeated Baytown Lee 44-8 and Klein Forest 40-35 in their other two games.
