The Woodlands State Qualifying Tournament Pools

Here are the teams, pools, key players, stats and of course my predictions for The Woodlands State Qualifying Tournament. I like the pool setup...only 1 already qualified team in each pool.

Pool A: The Woodlands, Klein Forest, Willis, Spring

The host team, The Woodlands has already qualified being the runner up at the Cypress Creek SQT. Klein Forest has gone 1-5 in SQT play this year including a 8-13 loss to host team. Willis will be participating in their first SQT this year and will bring good talent in WR Brent Walters WR and Rice commitment LB Devante Graham. Spring has a 5-4 overall SQT record but 3 of their losses are to teams that have already qualified.

Mike's Pick: Spring

Pool B: Cy Falls, Spring Westfield, Klein, Conroe

Cy Falls has gone 4-5 in SQT play this year after making it to the semifinals at the SQT they hosted back in the first week of SQT play. Spring Westfield is 2-3, making it to the semifinals at the Texans (Saturday) SQT. QB Jacoby Walker will be someone to watch. Klein has already qualified winning the Texans (Sunday) SQT. They now have an 8-0 SQT record including two wins over Cy Falls. Conroe will be making their first appearance this year.

Mike's Pick: Spring Westfield

Pool C: Klein Oak, Baytown Lee, Tomball, Conroe Oak Ridge

Klein Oak is making their first SQT showing and they will bring lots of talent. Look for QB Andy Wilson, LSU commit DB Luke Muncie and LB Demetrich Gilliam to be key players. Baytown Lee has been disappointing in SQT play this year but the only 2 time 7-on-7 champion may find a way to the state tournament yet. Tomball led by their all-world WR Jordan Leslie has already qualified being the runner up at the Texans (Sunday). They have an overall 8-3 record in SQT play. Conroe Oak Ridge looked very good at the Texans SQT. They even had a win over Tomball 40-36.

Mike's Pick: Conroe Oak Ridge

Pool D: Katy Cinco Ranch, Spring DeKaney, Cy Fair, Klein Collins

Katy Cinco Ranch has gone 7-3 this year in SQT play. Two of those three losses were in the Rosenberg Terry and their own SQT's. Cy Fair has already qualified being the runner up at the Cy Falls SQT in week 1. They have a 6-2 overall record. Klein Collins went 0-3 at the Texans SQT but they played everyone close and after talking to one of the parents they had not practiced 7-on-7 much coming into that tournament.

Mike's Pick: Katy Cinco Ranch

Semifinals:

Spring vs. Spring Westfield
Conroe Oak Ridge vs. Katy Cinco Ranch

Mike's Picks: Spring and Conroe Oak Ridge

Mike's Championship Pick: Spring
