Coaching Changes — Luling

Luling has hired Michael Waldie as their new Head Coach. Waldie replaces Robert Dean who died after brief illness on Octover 8th, 2009.
Dean was with Luling since 2006. He joined the staff as an assistant coach and became the head football coach and athletic director in 2008. He died after he became ill with pneumonia.
Waldie is a 15 year coaching veteran. He was the defensive coordinator at Livingston last season.
The Eagles were led on an interim basis by James Howell and Gene Scoggin. They were 1-14 under Dean but went 5-6 last season. They have dropped down to class 2A for 2010 which may help them to their first winning season in 4 years. They will compete in District 13 Division I with Blanco, Comfort, Ingram Moore, Lago Vista and Marion.
