San Marcos Academy Sells Naming Rights to Stadium

SAN MARCOS— San Marcos Academy has announced an agreement to partner with A+ Federal Credit Union as the official corporate sponsor of the Academy’s football, baseball and softball programs.

The Bears will open their 2010 football season under Head Coach Les Davis in the Ingram/A+ FCU Stadium, starting with their first home game September 3, 2010, versus the Brooks Academy Bengals of San Antonio. The Academy baseball and softball facilities will also carry the A+ name and logo.

Special Assistant for Athletic Development Ronald Oswalt, announced the partnership with A+ to staff and faculty. “SMA, one of the premier educational institutions in Central Texas, and A+ Federal Credit Union have joined forces in a naming rights corporate sponsorship that will benefit Academy students, faculty and staff,” Oswalt said. “This will be tasteful, it will be colorful, and it will be in keeping with the character and rich traditions of San Marcos Academy,"

A+ FCU CEO Kerry A.S. Parker, praised the school as an economic and educational engine for the area. “We look forward to partnering with SMA both athletically and academically,” Parker said. Keeping in tradition with how it was created over 60 years ago, A+ will also provide free financial education in SMA classrooms.

Athletic Director Toby Wade added, “A football game is not just a game. It's everybody coming together and celebrating the heritage of this school and what it's contributed to the city of San Marcos.”

SMA officials are touting the A+ FCU partnership as an “anchor donation” that will inspire other corporations and individuals to get involved with the school’s new Bear Club. More than 25 corporate partners have joined the Bear Club so far. Information on sponsorship opportunities is available on the school website at www.smba.org.
