Coaching Changes — Overton

Overton is bringing back the coach who is the all-time win leader in Overton history. Arthur “Bo” Talkington is returning after a 22 years to replace Ty Robinson who turned in his resignation as athletic director and head football coach at the end of the 2009 seasons. In two seasons, Robinson had a 7-13 overall record.

Talkington will return to take over the athletic director and head coach position. Both are titles that he has had on two different occasions before. He led the program to a 60-14-1 from 1981-85 and then returned after a one year absence to go 18-3 from 1987-88. His overall record at Overton is 78-17-1 in 7 years. He has the schools highest winning percentage in the history of its football program. Talkington left Overton to become head football coach at Emory Rains where he stayed from 1989-1993 where he went 24-26. He has also been a head coach at Fredericksburg (1994-1995 12-8-1), Alba-Golden (1998 0-10), and Detroit (2006 3-7). He has recently been in the oil business.

Overton will be part of District 9-1A Division I along with Big Sandy, Hawkins, Maud, Price Carlisle and Simms Bowie. They are currently on a three year losing streak.
