Wichita Falls Hirschi Hopes Slater Can Continue Turnaround

2011 Coaching Change: Wichita Falls Hirschi Huskies

Old Head Coach: Neil Searcy -- Resigned after leading the Huskies to a 13-38-0 record over the last 5 seasons. Before he arrived the Huskies were 1-29 in the previous 3 seasons. His first season at Hirschi (2006) they went 7-4 to end a 7 year losing streak. His teams won on 6 more games over the next 4 seasons. They ended a 17 game district losing streak near the end of the 2010 season.

New Head Coach: Cody Slater -- Was the head coach at 1A Miles last season where they finished 8-4 during his only year as a head coach. The 8-4 finish was the schools first winning season and playoff appearance since 2000. When they defeated Marfa 54-24 in their bi-district matchup if was Miles first playoff win since 1967. Coach Slaters other coaching jobs have been Offensive Coordinator positions at Arlington Sam Houston, Olney and Petrolia. He also coached at Kaufman and Wichita Falls Hirschi. He played college ball at Midwestern State.

Team News: The Huskies are on a 4 year losing streak going 6-34 during that time.
