2011 Coaching Change: Tyler Lee Red Raiders
Old Head Coach: Mike Owens -- Retired after coaching the Red Raiders for the last 15 seasons to a 111-69-0 record. He is the all-time winningest coach in Red Raider history. Coach Owens also coached 14 years at Port Arthur Jefferson where he had a 80-64-2 record. His all-time coaching record is 191-133-2 which is good enough for 92nd place on the all-time coaching wins list. His 2004 Red Raider team won the Class 5A Division I State Championship. Even though coach Owens turned in his resignation, he is interested in a retire/rehire to remain as head coach at Tyler Lee.
New Head Coach: Randy Huffstickler -- has been named interim head coach. He has been the Defensive Coordinator of the team for the past 7 years and last year he also served as the Assistant Head Coach.
Team News: The Red Raiders have gone 33-35 over last 6 years but they always play a very tough non-district schedule. Their two main rivals are Lufkin and Tyler John Tyler. The Red Raiders are 15-34-1 all-time vs. Lufkin. In the Rose City Rivalry vs. Tyler John Tyler they are 12-7 since 1994, 12-2 since 1999. John Tyler leads the overall series 28-26-1.
