Port Lavaca Calhoun’s Ground Game Surprises Calallen
-
Updated: August 27, 2011
Port Lavaca Calhoun ground out 330 rushing yards to defeat Corpus Christi Calallen 27-7 Friday night. Calhoun (Pre-Season #31) showed that they should not be overlooked when it comes to who is best in Region IV with the big win over Calallen (Pre-Season #17).
The Sandcrabs denied Calallen's head coach Phil Danaher his 300th win with the Wildcats. Coach Danaher will get his next chance against a very good Gregory-Portland team next week. Port Lavaca Calhoun's head coach Richard Whitaker will try for his 50th win at Calhoun next week when they play at Corpus Christi Ray.
The Wildcats and Sandcrabs last game against each other was an area round playoff game in 2007 where the Wildcats won 27-7.
