Stephenville Ends Aledo’s 29 Game Winning Streak

The Stephenville Yellow Jackets held on for an exciting 48-47 victory against the pre-season #1 in 4A Aledo Bearcats. Stephenville blocked two last second field goals to secure the win.
The Yellow Jackets were down 34-17 at one point. Behind junior quarterback Tyler Jones (20 of 24 for 224 yards 3 TDs) and receiver Brice Gunter (11 receptions for 144 yards) they were able to come back and take the lead 48-41. Aledo made it interesting with a touchdown pass with 1:26 remaining. They went for two and why not with one of the state best running backs (Johnathan Gray) in the backfield. Gray was stopped short on the two point conversion.
Stephenville took over but was forced to punt with only seconds remaining. That punt was blocked and Aledo took over with 5 seconds left. The Bearcats lined up for a 39 yard field goal and it was blocked and everyone thought the game was over BUT personal foul on Stephenville. The Bearcats had another shot BUT the 28 yard try was blocked again and this time no penalty flags.
Aledo's state leading 29 game winnng streak is now over and their 5 game winning streak over Stephenville is over. Aledo's star running back Gray finished the night with 28 carries 219 yards and 4 touchdowns. The 219 yards gives him 7224 for his career moving him into 20th place all-time. The 4 touchdowns gives him a career total of 139 to move into 2nd place all-time.
