Carthage won easily over 4A Jacksonville last week 43-12. Their Sophomore quarterback Blake Bogenschutz threw for 239 yards. Receiver Edward Pope had 10 receptions for 166 yards and two touchdowns.
Lindale also took care of business with a 56-7 victory over Longview Spring Hill. Quarterback Clay Price scored 4 touchdowns in the first half to lead them to a 42-7 halftime lead.
Carthage won last years game 47-42. They scored the game winner on a 58 yard pass with 35 seconds remaining. Lindale took over and when QB Price launched a Hail Mary pass into the end zone on the final play it was intercepted. The win kept Carthages win streak alive at 31 which was snapped the very next week by Tyler Chapel Hill. These two teams also played each other in the 2005 Class 3A Division I Bi-District game where Carthage won 31-10.
Mike Says: Carthage is now on a 13 game winning streak after winning their 3rd consecutive state championship last year. I am not sure if Carthage can stop Lindale's QB Price but they will do enough good things to come away with another victory. The Carthage Bulldogs win 34-27!!
Chris Says: Lindale is a team that can put up some serious points and nearly beat Carthage last year. That said, Carthage is not going to roll over and hand this game to them. It will be a hard fought battle, and even though I have Lindale ranked lower in the statewide standings, I think Lindale will surprise a lot of folks with the win 38-35!!
