(Week 2: 2011) 4A Kerrville Tivy Antlers (2-0) @ 5A Cibolo Steele Knights (2-0)

Kerrville Tivy @ Cibolo Steele

These teams both come into the game with 2-0 records. Both are Top 10 teams in their classes. Cibolo Steele is the defending state champions but they no longer have RB Malcolm Brown. Kerrville Tivy on the other hand no longer has superstar quarterback Johnny Manzel. They have each played a game at home vs. San Antonio Madison. Both teams won that game but Cibolo only won by 7 while Tivy won by 41. This will be the 4th consecutive year these two have played each other with Tivy winning all 3 games. Steele's head coach Michael Jinks will be going for his 50th all-time coaching win (all at Cibolo Steele).

Mike Says: The Antlers have been impressive this year. Everything looks to be in their favor this week with a 3 game winning streak over the knights and a 41 point victory over San Antonio Madison while the Knights only beat Madison by 7. The defending 5A Division II champions Cibolo Steele will be at home, have a current 15 game winning streak and they are ready to end their losing streak against Tivy. They are averaging 315 yards rushing per game and that will help keep that explosive Tivy offense off of the field. QB Tommy Armstrong (175 yards passing, 157 yards rushing), RB Justin Stockton (243 yards rushing), RB Jordan Sterns (165 yards rushing), LB Ross Luensmann (23 tackles) and LB Devere Carrington (22 tackles) will lead the Knights. The KNIGHTS win 32-28!!

Chris Says: While it is not rare that Mike and I agree, it is rare that we both agree and cite the same reasons.  Everything points to Kerrville Tivy winning their 4th in a row against Cibolo Steele - everything except my gut.  My gut tells me that Michael Jinks will have his team fired up.  We are talking win #50 for Jinks - a home game where they are always tough - and a chance to avenge three straight losses to the Antlers.  Cibolo Steele takes the win 28-24!!
