(Week 2: 2011) 5A Allen Eagles (2-0) @ 5A Longview Lobos (2-0)

Allen @ Longview

Both teams are coming in at 2-0 and ranked in the Top 10. Allen is almost everyone's top team in the state (LSG's #2). The Eagles won an LSG Game Of The Week in week zero with a 28-13 win over Cedar Hill. They then ran over Justin Northwest 59-0 last week. Longview has won two rivalry games in a row big East Texas wins over Marshall and Tyler John Tyler. This will the 4th year in a row for these two teams to meet up in the regular season. The home team has won each year. They also have split two playoff games against each other. This will also be Longview's head coach John King's 100th all-time game with the Lobos. He has led them to an 82-17 since 2004.

Allen's Coach Tom Westerberg says, "Every game we play is a big game.  That is the way we approach it.  We try to keep the kids on an even plane each and every game.  If we execute the way we have the last 2 weeks I like our chances."

1996 Longview 48, Allen 13 Area Round Playoffs
2001 Allen 20, Longview 17 Area Round Playoffs
2008 Allen 21, Longview 7
2009 Longview 28, Allen 25
2010 Allen 24, Longview 20

Mike Says: This has turned out to be a great series with each regular season game being settled by an average of 7 points. Coach King will have the Lobos ready and they are at home. Allen is still one of the best in the state. It will be another close one. The EAGLES win 28-27!!!

Chris Says: These two always play tight games and this one will be no exception.  This is the type of game that you hate to see listed in the Games of the Week just because no matter how much you know about the two squads, how great your record of picking winners, and no matter how much of a "master" you are of feeling when a team has something special in store - this type will always be a guess.  This is the game that determines if Allen is indeed one of the top teams this year or just a really excellent one... Can you tell I'm stalling? Haha   Allen will take this one 21-20!!

What do you have to say?
