San Antonio Wagner Thunderbirds (6-2, 3-0) @ Cibolo Steele Knights (8-0, 3-0)
District 25-5A Matchup

Both of these schools began varsity play in 2006. Their only meeting was last year where Steele won easily 34-0. The winner of this contest is in the playoffs and will be the district champion. Both of these teams are likely to get into the playoffs and both will probably go Division II.

Mike Says:  This game features the best defenses in the district. Wagner really made people stand up and notice when they defeated Judson a few weeks ago. Steele has been featured twice in our games of the week and they have come out winners both times. The Knights quarterback Tommy Armstrong keeps things exciting on the offensives side with 857 passing yards, 700 rushing yards and 22 total touchdowns. Their defense features LB Devere Carrington (83 tackles), LB Ross Luensmann (80 tackles), DL Eric Maus (4.5 sacks 29 tackles) and DB Erik Huhn (6 INTs 38 tackles). This one is all Steele. The KNIGHTS win 34-10!!!

Chris Says: Okay, the only real question here is... do we call the Thunderbirds "San Antonio" Wagner or "Converse" Wagner?  I'm going to go with Converse just because it sounds cooler in my opinion.   A couple years back, nobody would have believe this was going to be a good matchup, but what a difference a couple years makes.  Converse Wagner is a much improved team and even though Steele is still sporting a perfect record, they have shown some signs of being human.  Are they human enough to lose to Wagner?  I'm not so sure.  While, I don't think this will be a blowout, I do think the Cibolo Steele KNIGHTS take it 24-17!!!

Who do you think will win?

A few things. Wagner will go D-I, not D-II, since it has the second largest enrollment in 25-5A.
Also, it’s San Antonio Wagner since the school is actually located in San Antonio, not Converse.

Chris Jones has thrown the red flag to challenge the call on the field. Lets go down the field to get the call……………Referee : After further review, New Braunfels has an enrollment of 2252 and not 2552. “SAN ANTONIO” Wagner will be Division I. Chris Jones will not be charged a time out.
