Mike Says: Canyon Lake really caught our eyes earlier in the season, when they defeated Sealy at home. They have a very talented team
with a strong running game and a good defense. Their defense is led by LB Jeremy Best (95 tackles), LB Matt Noyola (69 tackles) and DL Alex Kemp (7 sacks 42 tackles). Their running game features a good one in RB Zach Henshaw (1302 yards 17 TDs). He follows the big guys up front like OL Jaazaniah McNair and OL Logan Felch. With all that, you think that I am going to pick Canyon Lake right. Not so, this Wimberley team is too good. They are our prediction to make it to the Division II championship game. Quarterback Brady Lambert heads up the offense while DB Nick Alana and DL Colton Fonville lead the defense. This will be a great challenge for the Texans. The TEXANS win 35-21!!!
Chris Says: There are a lot of folks saying that this is the year for Canyon Lake. You know what? With Zach Henshaw running the ball, that may be true. There are also a lot of people saying that before Dennis Smith went down with an injury, this was Wimberley's year. With Smith coming back in two weeks, that may be true also. Hopefully there won’t need to be someone with a degree from one of the sports medicine schools standing by. What you have here are two good teams about to knock heads with a combined record of 11-0... something has to give. In the end, the difference maker is going to Brennen Blakemore the WR for Wimberley. Canyon Lake does not have an answer for him. Sure, there will be a ton of points scored and the win very well could go to the team that has the ball last. Wimberley however does their folding when they are up by a lot - not in a tight game. The TEXANS come away with an exciting win 42-41!!!!
