Tyler John Tyler was able to hold back Dallas Highland Park (12-1) with a 42-39 wild one in the Class 4A Regional Playoffs.   With 27 seconds remaining, Dallas Highland Park lined up for a 51 yard field goal to possibley tie the game and send it to overtime.  The Tyler rush forced the holder to try a pass instead which fell incomplete.  This was the third consecutive season that Dallas Highland Park has fell in the third round.  Tyler John Tyler (10-3) moves on to face the winner of Rockwall Heath/Sherman next week in the Quarterfinals.

For the record, four players are in the record book that played in this game.  Tyler John Tyler wide receiver Fred Ross caught 6 passes for 39 yards.  His quarterback Greg Ward who has one of the best completion percentages in the state (70%) completed 17 of 19 passes for 217 yards and 1 touchdown.  He also ran for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Dallas Highland Park wide receiver William Morris caught 2 passes for 18 yards.  His quarterback Brady Burgin completed 11 of 17 passes for 114 yards.  On the season, Ross now has 85 receptions for 1,180 yards and 13 touchdowns.  Ward has 235 completions on 331 passes for 3,323 yards and 30 touchdowns.  Morris finishes his season with 78 receptions for 1,105 yards and 13 touchdowns. Burgin finishes his season with 251 completions on 387 passes for 3,398 yards and 24 touchdowns.
