The 2012 NFL Draft is behind us and once again Texas' claim to the top spot was proven out. Texas topped all states with 32 players, including the top two spots and three of the top eight - all QBs. The Lone Star State was followed by Florida (31) and California (26) in number of players selected in this year's draft.
The other record set with the 2012 NFL Draft was that never before in the league's history has the #1 (Andrew Luck - Houston Stratford) and #2 (Robert Griffin III - Copperas Cove) players chosen been from the same state. Not only were both from Texas, both were quarterbacks.
And speaking of unique quarterback stats, with the selection of Nick Foles (Austin Westlake) by the Philadelphia Eagles, that school - Austin Westlake will have two NFL quarterbacks. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) also played for the Chaparrals, leading them to the 1996 5A Division II State Championship over Abilene Cooper 55-15.
