- Mike Says: This is a battle of Top 5 now (Leander) and Pre-Season Top 5 (Cedar Park). This is the game that should decide the district champion. Leander has been cruising with a strong running game and a dominating defense. They have only given up 14 points through 4 games. Up until last week against Pflugerville, they had not played the best the state had but they were all decent teams with a combined record of 10-2 if you exclude the games against the Lions. Cedar Park got off to a slow start with losses to two TOP 25 Class 5A teams in Austin Westlake and Abilene Cooper. They have turned it around now and won their last 2 games. Their defense is also top notch only giving up 47 points in 4 games including 9 over the last 2. The problem is that their offense is struggling only scoring 43 points on the season. Leander QB Caleb Woodard is a D1 recruit who has run for 651 yards and scored 10 TDs rushing on the season. This looks to be a great defensive battle on paper. Both of these teams will probably go Division I come playoff time so this will decide who is #1 and who is #2. The LIONS win it 34-17!!
- Chris Says: Leander is getting a lot of press recently and it is easy to see why. Three straight games averaging a win of 35-4 followed by a 20-0 shutout of Pflugerville and you have to take notice. Cedar Park has been all over the board - winning half and losing half. Not only that, but they are having a hard time putting points on the board. Leander will score and both teams will play defense. That means Leander will win. The LIONS take it 28-10!!!
