Idalou Promotes Johnny Taylor’s Son In Law

2013 Coaching Change: Idalou Wildcats
Old Head Coach: Don Long - Leaving to be the defensive coordinator in Andrews. He led the Wildcats to a 18-5 record in his 2 seasons winning a pair of district championships. Before taking over as head coach, he was a long time defensive coordinator for the Wildcats. He had coached at Idalou for for 24 years.
New Head Coach: Jeff Lofton -- Was an assistant with the Wildcats since 2009. He has also worked as an assistant with Midlothian (2002-04), Midland Greenwood (2004-05), Lubbock Monterey (2005-07) and Kennedale (2008-09). This will be his first head coaching job. His father is law is longtime Idalou coach Johnny Taylor, who retired after leading the Wildcats to the 2010 Class 2A state championship. Coach Lofton is a 1997 grad of Idalou. Coach Taylor finished his career with an all-time coaching record of 189-64-3 which ranks him in the Top 110 in all-time coaching wins.
Team News: The Wildcats have had 22 consecutive non-losing seasons (they went 5-5 during 2 seasons in that stretch).
