Texas high school footballMike Says: Katy Seven Lakes come it at 6-0!! Wow!! BUT...their opponents combined record is 7-31. Now they take on the big boys on the block....the Katy Tigers. A win here would put Seven Lakes on the football map. Lots of teams have played Katy thinking that very same thing though and have come away with another lopsided loss. The Spartans rely on a strong running game (256 yards a game) which is right against the strength of that Tiger defense which is stopping the run. The Tigers also rely on a strong running game and even with Rodney Anderson being hurt, SOPH Kyle Porter has stepped up with 367 yards over the past 2 weeks. Katy is now guaranteed a winning season which is now 23 consecutive winning seasons. Congrats to Seven Lakes for making our game of the week but it will not be a contest. The TIGERS win it 48-13!!

Texas high school footballChris Says: Is this one of those David vs Goliath games?  Could this be the time that Katy Seven Lakes throws off the yoke of oppression and stuns the football world?  Am I making this into much more than it is?  You can only answer yes to one of those questions.  If Seven Lakes had some secret weapon or were able to bring a sling and some rocks into battle with the Tigers, I would give them a chance.  The TIGERS roll 44-20!!

Texas high school footballLSG Intern Zach Says: Gotta love Seven Lakes with Lydell Wilson at the helm. The Spartans are off to their best start in school history, proving that Wilson belongs on every list of the top coaches in the state. They have a solid quarterback in Rand Turnbull, all three of their running backs can pick up tough yards and Jarrett Johnson leads a stout defense. And here comes the big fat but. Katy is a juggernaut, and are legitimately two-deep at every position. Seven Lakes looks a mainstay in this district as long as Wilson is around, but the Tigers are too good. Tigers 56-35.

Texas high school footballLSG Intern William Says: Two teams that love to run the football, something you don’t see very much of anymore. Katy has junior Rodney Anderson and sophomore Kyle Porter in the backfield who, together, combine for 1479 yards and 22 touchdowns. These two are probably one of the best duos in the state. For Seven Lakes they respond with three rusher’s sophomore Bryan Moore, senior Evan McDowell, and junior quarterback Randolf Turnbull. These three account for 1304 yards and 14 touchdowns from the ground game. Another interesting fact Katy’s two best defensive backs, sophomore Collin Wilder and junior Sy Slater, combined have 7 interceptions this year. The same amount as the entire Seven Lakes defense. Katy could arguably be the best team in the state and this game won’t hurt them in those arguments. Tigers win 35-20.

Texas high school footballLSG Writer Scott Says: This is the biggest game in school history for Seven Lakes as it enters already equaling its school record for wins in a season with six. Sophomore Bryan Moore leads the way with his 648 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Quarterback Randolf Turnbull is a game manager to lead the charge along with Moore for a program that has won 29 total games in school history. Katy has six state championships and will welcome the challenge. Texas A&M commit Rodney Anderson, who has rushed for 715 yards and 12 touchdowns, has been injured as of late. Enter sophomore Kyle Porter, who has 764 yards and 12 touchdowns. Sophomore Collin Wilder has four interceptions and helps lead the defense along with defensive lineman Cody Gessler. Gessler is a load and a beast for his 5-10, 240-pound frame. Too much too soon for Seven Lakes as Katy rolls to a 56-7 victory.
