Mustangs Charge through Playoffs

Magnolia West

In a small town north of Houston there is a football team that is making their way through playoffs, upsetting teams left and right.

The Magnolia West Mustangs have been a football team for only six years. However, in those six years they have definitely made a name for themselves as a football team to watch out for, especially this 2013 football season.

With an all-time record of 36-29 and a record of 9-3 in the 2013 season, the Mustangs are a team to look out for during this season’s playoffs, even more so after their last two victories.

On November 15, 2013, the Mustangs faced Manor, a top 20 team, in the first round of playoffs. The Mustangs were victorious with a shut out of 51-20. The victory resulted in the Mustangs moving on in playoffs and Manor’s playoff time to end.

With their next playoff game against Humble Summer Creek, another top 20 team, Coach Shawn Bell and the Mustangs prepared for their game on November 22, 2013 at Woodforest Stadium. During the first half, the Mustangs tried to keep up with Summer Creek but that soon changed when the second half began. The Mustangs stuck together and came out with a win of 33-26 resulting in one of the biggest upsets this season.

Magnolia West will continue their journey through playoffs on November 29 when they will face Dawson in regionals. Best of luck to Coach Bell and the Magnolia West Mustangs.
