Mike Says: The battle of the Eagles. One we thought would be here and the other flew in from out of nowhere. We had Argyle winning the state championship in Division I in our Pre-Season predictions. They would go Division II and here they are in that championship game. Fairfield was not ranked in our Top 20. They have got here with the strong running of RB Larry Rose (2,659 yards 47 touchdowns rushing) and good defense led by Danny Cockrell (21 tackles for loss and 8 sacks). Argyle has been impressive all year long and got the rest of the state to jump on to their band wagon when the beat Gilmer in the Regionals. They also have a stong rushing attack led by Nick Ralston (1,730 yards 31 TDs) and do everything player Ian Sadler (32 total TDs). They have one of the states best Kickers in Cole Hedlund (96 of 96 on XPs and 23 of 25 field goals). The kicking game wins it for Argyle. The ARGYLE EAGLES win their first state championship in 3 tries (they have only been playing varsity ball 12 seasons) on a last second field goal 27-24!!
Chris Says: Again, we have one of our preseason champions playing for a title - the Argyle Eagles. Fairfield however, surprised pretty much everyone. Both teams are sitting pretty at 15-0 and both have knocked off some pretty solid competition. Larry Rose is a man among boys when he runs the ball for Fairfield, but he IS the offense. Argyle however, seems to be a more balance team. Argyle has built a solid team in a very short time and although they have knocked on the door three times, they have yet to walk into the championship circle. ARGYLE EAGLES kick the door in and grab a championship 35-21!!
LSG Intern William Says: Both teams have been absolutely dominant this year, Fairfield has a backfield that has combined close to 5,000 yards. Fairfield will be going up against one of the best players in the state, Ian Sadler. Sadler can do everything offensively making him very dynamic. Argyle has the edge 45-28.
LSG Fan Poll Says: This is one of the most voted upon of all the championship polls. Over 450 people have given their opinion in this battle of 15-0 Eagles. Argyle (55%) beats Fairfield (45%) in the voting. ARGYLE EAGLES win it - the fans have spoken!!
