Todd Dodge Will Take Over At Austin Westlake

The Austin Westlake Chaparrals have hired Todd Dodge to be their next head coach. Dodge replaces Darren Allman who recently accepted a job to coach at Colleyville Heritage. This will be Coach Dodge's 5th high school head coaching position after stays at Cameron Yoe, Carrollton Newman Smith, Keller Fossill Ridge, Southlake Carroll and Marble Falls.

Coach Dodge is coming over from Marble Falls where he led the Mustangs for the last 2 seasons to a 8-12 record. Before that he was an assistant at the University of Pittsburgh. He was also the head coach at the University of North Texas posting a record of 6-37. He led Cameron Yoe from 1994-1995 going 8-12, Carrollton Newman Smith from 1996-1997 going 9-11, Keller Fossill Ridge from 1998-1999 going 7-13 and Southlake Carroll from 2000-2006 going 98-11. He led the Dragons from Southlake to four Class 5A state titles and one state Runner Up. He was a 3 year starter as quarterback for the Texas Longhorns in the mid 80's. His wife, Elizabeth, was a Westlake graduate. Her father, Ebbie Neptune was the head coach from 1982-1986 for the Chaparrals and served as athletic director for 22 years.

Dodge will take over for Darren Allman, who spent 5 seasons at Westlake leading the Chaparrals to an overall 45-21 record. Allman is leaving to be the new head coach at Colleyville Heritage. Coach Allman was also the head coach at Odessa Permian from 2005-2008 going 38-11. Allman replaced Mike Fuller at Heritage who left to take over at 3A Decatur. Fuller was 60-19 during his 7 seasons there. Former Decatur coach Kyle Story was named the first ever head coach at Frisco Independence.
