- Mike Says: The Aztecs will rely on their defense this year with its 3 all-district players returning. This is not a very tough district so their toughest games will be outside of district against Wolfforth Frenship and Midland Lee. Look for the Aztecs to win 5 or 6 regular season games and compete for that 4th playoff spot.
- Chris Says: A lot of folks are paying lip service to how "talented" the Aztecs are and how they should be strong - but then picking them not to make the playoffs.... what is that about? Sorry, that's just a pet peeve of mine. If you're going to say they are not a playoff team, don't sugarcoat things. (rant over) I say the Aztecs ARE a playoff team. QB Austyn Hill looked excellent last year and should be better this time around. If the O-line steps up and gives a little protection and either Gonzales or Birdsong pick up the running game, we could be looking at a district title. I don't expect that, but I expect the Aztecs to be in the big middle of things in terms of playoffs and notch 6 or 7 wins.
