Lone Star Gridiron 2014 Texas high school football players of the yearWinner:QB Tanner Schafer (Canadian)

Quarterback Tanner Schafer of the Canadian Wildcats earned the title of Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year largely based on his ability to throw the ball. The Canadian junior completed 276 passes on 399 attempts for 3,854 yards. Schafer also managed 51 touchdowns. Schafer led the Wildcats to win the Division I State Championship.

2. QB De'Nerian Thomas (Mart)

Panthers' quarterback De'Nerian Thomas also put up some impressive numbers in the 2014 season. Thomas ran for 2,580 yards, which ultimately lead to the Panthers' trip to the Semifinals.  He managed four games with over 260 yards rushing and even one over 300 yards (304 vs Crawford.)  Thomas completed his career at Mart with 6,820 yards.

3. RB Cobe Caraway (Tenaha)

Tigers' running back Cobe Caraway makes the Offensive Player of the Year list as a Runner-up for the collection of yardage he gathered in the 2014 season. Caraway ran for a total of 2,458 yards.  Cobe Caraway rushed for 283 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, leading Tenaha to a 47-7 rout of Normangee in their Class 2A Division II Region III semifinal.  They then narrowly missed a trip to the state title game when eventual champion, Bremond edged them 32-29, despite 218 yards and 2 TDs by Caraway.

4. QB Hunter Lile (Booker)

Kiowas' quarterback Hunter Lile capped an amazing high school career by adding to history making numbers in the 2014 season. Lile finished his high school football career at the top of nearly every passing category in history, finishing the season with 3,676 passing yards.
