Alief Elsik Hires Replacement for Bill Barron

The Alief Elsik Rams have hired Aric Sardinea to replace long time coach Bill Barron.
Coach Barron retired after being the head coach at Elsik for the past 20 years going 118-103-1. He has a career coaching record of 216-159-5 and is currently in 60th place all-time for coaching wins.
Sardinea comes over from 3A Daingerfield where he has led the Tigers to a 38-28 record over the past 5 seasons. Before taking over as head coach, he was the offensive coordinator at Garland Rowlett for 6 years. His 2012 Tiger team made it to the state Class 2A Division I title game.
This upcoming season will be a challenge for the Rams. Not only do they have a new coach, but graduation hit them hard and realignment put them into a pretty tough district. The Rams graduated the District Offensive MVP E.J. Davis, star linebacker Dontavious Jackson and 11 other all-district players.
Realignment moved them into a district that includes Pearland, Pearland Dawson, Brazoswood and Class 5A Division I state champions Richmond George Ranch. Add in their district rivals Alief Taylor and Alief Hastings and that will be a tough playoff spot to get.
The Rams are coming off of their best back to back seasons since 1999-2000. Can Sardinea lead this young team and have the same kind of success that they had under Barron?
